Life of an insurance agent
ever since i joined Prudential, i stopped blogging.. cos ppl around mi dislike the idea of this profession and that they feel that sure cmi one.. and partly becos of the shortage of time.. so might as well dun speak a word of wat exactly im doing..
But im glad that i have been through this tough career.. which most ppl wont even think of trying.. and selling something which ppl would consider as the hardest thing to sell on earth.. such that if u can sell it well, u can sell anyother things already..
In this career.. i did things which i myself or my frens wont even think i would do it in my life.. that is, talking to strangers on the streets.. so basically, herez my job scope.. approaching ppl on streets to do survey.. "cheat" them to sit down in mac or kfc to present the plan and do application if possible. I believe almost of the ppl who know mi cannot imagine me doing it.. they are right.. i have alot of difficulties adapting to this kind of environment.. most of the time i just watch my colleagues approach ppl like very easy and i just stood still.. unable to move out of my comfort zone.. but actually, i can do it juz that in certain circumstances, its too hard for me for my kind of character.. typically in peak periods like off-work hours where ppl are rushing to go home that i feel awkward? to approach.. and sometimes lazy.. besides these, there are a few cases which i did good.. approached them, built good rapport, had long chats and laughs, sit down wif them in kfc and present my plan, handle all their objections ..all these with a stranger.. even though didnt close a case, but it made tat day good. It also boosts the day when i met nice people.. who gave encouragements.. therez even one who (ntu student) guessed that i haven been in this line for 2years+.. quite professional in my presentation.. wah.. veri toouched yo! just that shez studying thus no budget.. T_T but all these are actually rare.. the rejection rate is sky high.. T_T. and there were times i was having fun sms-ing my prospects..
but havent did all these doesnt mean that i have the guts to approach any ppl (girls) on the streets, trains, anywhere to talk.. -_- unless armed with a survey .. lol. you might be wondering what kind of people do i approach.. i onli approach female.. but not those super chio 1.. and executives.. not enough confident ba.. but given a chance now... i just sa 1 thx..
and im doing the above for 24/7.. but of course u can take personal time when u need it.. but it wont look good if take too often.. -.- sometimes with training in the morning 9am to noon and then work until 10pm at night then go home.. some days were used to telephone prospects which colleccted at the streets to meet appointment..
Sometimes i was thinking.. y issit that i cant suceed.. i was in Prudential, no.1 insurance company for 2005,2006. i was in Peter Tan Organization, no.1 agency in Prudential. I have a very good manager cum mentor, though juz newly promoted, who continuously put his very best to guide me.. + I phyiscally look ok. after much thoughts.. its the hardwork and attitude one must have that count.. look is only an added advantage..
Actually this insurance industry can do one.. but to maintain that hardwork for years is a challenging one.. just like wat Peter said.. to achieve something is easy.. but to achieve it consistently is the tough one.. yearly no.1 is definetly not easy.. if i manage to suceed, it will be the lifestyle that i wanted.. very rewarding.. should my client base is huge, all i need to do is to do referrals, call and setup appointments, go down relax chit chat present plan then close. all at my own disposals.. while enjoying the recurrent income.. shiok! day dream~ but one should dare to dream big.. but must accompanied with actions..
i just want to make sure that whatever things, skills, attitudes, behaviours i cultivated in PTO, i will carry it along with me where ever i go...
Im just proud to be an ex insurance agent, professional beggar some call it..
